Kilgore College Transforms Printing Processes with UBEO

Kilgore College, located in the heart of East Texas, is a vibrant community college with a rich history rooted in the region’s oil boom of the 1930s. Established in 1935, the college now boasts an annual enrollment of over 7000 students. 

Before partnering with UBEO, the campus dealt with a number of printing challenges, including a lack of standardized processes, an overwhelming variety of printer models, incompatible toner supplies, underutilized printers generating unnecessary expenses, and excessive toner buildup. In addition to increasing costs, these inefficiencies disrupted day-to-day operations and created a backlog of troubleshooting work for the IT department.

Starting with a comprehensive Business Technology Assessment (BTA), UBEO evaluated Kilgore’s print demands, identified inefficiencies in their printing operations, and introduced printer standardization to streamline their processes.

The printer standardization process included eliminating unnecessary printers, reducing the variety of printer types to limit complexity, and creating a consistent and reliable system across campus. 

UBEO also took over technical support for printers, freeing the IT department to focus on other tasks. UBEO’s flexible U-Manage Rental Program allows departments across campus to switch between black-and-white and color devices based on their needs — without waiting for a lease buyout.

Beyond operational improvements, UBEO also helped Kilgore College achieve a new entrepreneurial milestone by optimizing their low-production print shop, Ranger Print, and turning it into a thriving revenue-generating business.
